Born in Worms in 1958, the sculptor and painter Karlheinz Oswald has been internationally present with his works in exhibitions for over three decades. 1981-1990 Studied fine arts at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, 1984 first bronze castings of portraits, figures and reliefs. 1985 Daniel Henry Kahnweiler sponsorship award. 1986 Gutenberg scholarship of the city of Mainz. 1988 Mainz city printer. 1996 Working stay and exhibition at the ballet of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin. From 2000 dancer pictures and dancer sculptures at the ballet of the Mainz State Theatre. 2009 Honorary Award of the Ike and Berthold Roland Foundation. Since the beginning of his artistic career, sculpture has been the main focus of his work, both in the sacred and public spheres. Oswald is also known for his portraits, of which he has produced well over 200 over the years, including those of Cardinal Lehmann, former Chancellor Helmut Kohl and Edith Stein. Karlheinz Oswald has lived and worked in Zurich and Locarno since 2007 and has been a Swiss citizen since 2021.
