Reichenberger was born in Halle an der Saale in 1945 and worked in Cologne until his death in 2004. He graduated from Prof. Karl Marx and was also a master student of his. Thanks to the establishment of the Peter Reichenberger Foundation in 2006, his important estate is actively cared for by the latter today, so that his very special and unique work lives on.
