Walter Stöhrer
The German artist Walter Stöhrer, 1937-2000, is one of the more influential painters of the 20th century. After finishing school, he trained as a commercial artist and then studied with Horst Antes at the Art Academy in Karlsruhe under HAP Grieshaber. After his studies Walter Stöhrer moved to Berlin and received a visiting professorship at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin in 1984, which became a full professorship in 1986. While still alive, the Walter Stöhrer Foundation was founded in Scholderup, Schleswig-Holstein. It comprises an archive and a large collection.
